Officina Aba Srl

Who we are

Officina ABA derives from the ‘Bessi Ciampolini & Meoni’ workshop born in 1946 after the end of the Second World War. It was named after the three partners: Armando Bessi, Gino Ciampolini and Vasco Meoni. This small workshop was based in via Ariosto in Prato and produced machines for the preparation to the carded spinning and cards to be added to the old carding lines which, at that time, were mainly dismantled from English and German spinning mills, to be then reinstalled in the thriving Prato reality.

A bit of history

In 1950, Angiolo Bessi, 11-year-old grandson of one of the three partners, Armando Bessi, joined this company.

In the following years, from 1950 to 1955 the other two partners Meoni and Ciampolini left the company, dedicating themselves to the production of their own carded yarns and, in such a way, only Armando remained to manage the workshop.

In 1962, together with his nephew Angiolo, the new company named Officina ABA was founded, and in 1964 it moved to Oste di Montemurlo, industrial area of Prato, in a larger operational headquarters.

In 1965 Armando Bessi ends his work leaving the company to his nephew Angiolo and, since 1990, his son Italo (also known as Leonardo) is partner of the company as well.

Throughout the history of the Officina ABA, complete carding lines or parts of these and preparations for carded spinning have been produced; moreover, since 2000 we have started to produce machines for nonwoven lines (TNT) and preparations for nonwoven (TNT).
